Solution Focused Coaching
"Problem Talk creates problems, Solution talk creates solutions." Steve de Shazer
Essential Talk, Solution Focused Coaching, is for anyone. Anyone who is 'stuck' and requires support to get 'unstuck', and achieve their goals!
Solution Focused Coaching is a practical, achievable, and effective approach that provides hope for people facing challenges in their life. At its core is a focus on helping clients find solutions rather than problems, build a future based on strengths rather than weaknesses, and find positive ways forward rather than examining barriers.
Solution Focused Coaching can be the 'circuit breaker' for people facing issues such as anxiety, stress, health problems, relationship difficulties, and work-related issues; helping them to draw on their own skills and strengths to create meaningful change. This approach can also be successfully applied within teams of people working together.
Clients can attend sessions online or in person. They will be invited to focus on their 'best hopes'; articulate their preferred future or detail their best hopes manifested in their life, and identify where they are now and how they might move forward.
Focus, Future, Forward!

“Words create worlds.” This phrase highlights the importance of language in Solution Focused coaching, therapy, and counselling.
People move in the direction their words take them. The type of talk that is essential helps people find solutions rather than problems and find positive ways forward rather than examining barriers. Through the use of appropriate questioning, Solution Focused coaching will help clients move towards the future that they want by uncovering their existing skills, strategies and ideas.
Essential Talk, Solution Focused Coaching draws on the SFBT model. With the absence of analysis of problems, solutions can be arrived at very quickly. The approach is brief and has been known to bring about lasting change within a short space of time. The definition of brief within SFBT is, 'as long as it takes and not one session more'. (Steve de Shazer). Solution Focused coaching has its origins in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), also called Solution-Focused Therapy, developed by Steve de Shazer (1940-2005), and Insoo Kim Berg (1934-2007) and their colleagues beginning in the late 1970s in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
